Breathe in. Breathe out. Action. Reaction. The hunter and the prey. Mythical fight that has been shaping our perception of reality since the ancient times was the focus of yesterday’s dance performance Hunting season, choreographed by Milan Tomášik. The dance routine gave the audience more insight into the way the individual perceives themselves and others. It is not just a story about relationships but a story about the world and humankind.
"Ever since the beginning of the Open Dance Show as part of the festival, we have tried to make the art of movement the focus of our festival program. This year, we were given the opportunity to present the beauty of movement at a special venue and I am happy to see that Milan Tomášik and the dancers did an excellent job and served the audience with a dynamic and diverse dance performance," said Minka Veselič Kološa, dance producer and founder of the Open dance Show project.
The visitors were greeted with a unique dance experience, accompanied by emotional music by Vladimir Godár. Tina Valentan, Špela Vodeb, Aja Zupanec, Jan Rozman, Alessandro Sollima and Milan Tomášik gave a performance full of emotions, dynamics, and abstract movement.
Although the performance marked the beginning of the festival, it was not the Open Dance Show’s first performance this season. Their debut performance was on June 23rd at the Maribor Puppet Theatre. On June 29th, the Open Dance Show’s event will be a solo performance Sad Sam Lucky by a Croatian dancer and choreographer Matija Ferlin, created as the answer to Slovenian poet Srečko Kosovel’s repertoire.
