THE LEWIS HAMILTON BAND (GBR)

Lewis Hamilton – guitar, vocal
Nick Hamilton – bass
Ben O'Reilly – drums

Since their formation in August 2010, The Lewis Hamilton Band have been booked for over 500 shows from Shetland to Poland, and have appeared at most of the UK’s biggest blues festivals, including Main Stage performances at Hebden Bridge and Maryport. As a guitarist, Lewis pays tribute to some of the greatest musicians of the 20th century, taking influence from people like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix and Rory Gallagher. He also incorporates styles from more modern blues-rock musicians such as Joe Bonamassa, Derek Trucks and Matt Scofield. As a vocalist, he has developed his own unique and powerful style of singing, influenced by Joe Cocker and Dave Mathews.

His debut album Gambling Machine won the Scottish New Music Award for Scottish Jazz/Blues album of the year for 2012. “Candlelight & Sympathy” from Empty Roads will be the soundtrack of a new feature film 'Scar Tissue'. His third album Ghost Train has had numerous top reviews and acclaim from magazines and websites worldwide, and airplayed in over 15 countries. In addition to his previous nominations in the 2012 and 2013 British Blues Awards and receiving two preliminary nominations in their song-writing category, Lewis was nominated yet again as Best Young Artist in 2014. He is currently writing and recording his fourth studio album Shipwrecked and has had tracks from Ghost Train played on BBC R2 by Whispering Bob Harris, who has also offered him a slot on his Under The Apple Tree Sessions to help promote the album release in 2015.

Lewis has performed with notable musicians such as Aynsley Lister, Ryan McGarvey, Henrik Freischlader, Alan Nimmo, Chantel McGregor and Ben Poole. He also has a considerable talent for recording, and runs his own studio in Scotland, where all his music is written, recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Lewis himself.

"Lewis Hamilton seems to be a flawless offspring of the North American roots of the blues." - Steve Brown (Rocktimes.DE)

"While he has shown that he can hold his own with any guitarist on the scene, he is so much more. His work is soulful, evoking images in the mind of the listener that one would expect from a man twice his age." - Bill Wilson (Reflections in Blue)

"There are traces in his style of Henrik Freischlader – always looking for a fresh way of presenting the music and not afraid of taking a new direction Ghost Train is an always interesting disc ..." - John Hurd (3songsbonn.com)

"This is heartfelt soulful music, just as honest as the day is long in June, and when music has that much integrity, it just has to be good." - Jon Seymour (Firebrand Magazine)

"The music is solid - the trio rocks, sometimes gets funky … Definitely recommended for fans of the genre." - Nathan Nörgel (Wasser-Prawda Magazine)

"Hot Blooded Caledonian Blues - could any music fan refuse?" - Ian Rankin
