In 1980, an amateur theater group from Vodnjan, Croatia, transformed into a band Gustafi. Influenced by the Istrian folk music and other folk rhythms, they slowly moved away from the experimental punk rock. So far, they have released eleven albums and did over 2500 performances.

Their album FF was released in 2006 and won a Porin award for best rock album. In 2012, they released the album Kanibalkanska, which brought the band two Porin award nominations. They are currently working on their twelfth album and thinking about releasing a thirteenth one entitled Štala, which has been ready since 2008 but has never seen the light of day.
