It is rare that there is a newcomer in Brazilian music, who is a bit over thirty and receives a Grammy for his first album for the best Latin-American album, and gathers a higher number of fans on Facebook than Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso in total (almost 4 million!). Diogo Nogueira is the son of legendary samba singer João Nogueira, who intended his son to be a professional footballer at first, but Diogo dedicated himself completely to music after a knee injury. Today he is one of the most popular singers in Brazil.

The band Bossa Negra is modern and at the same time traditional, since its music is essentially influenced by the 10-string mandolin of Hamitlon De Holanda, who is one of the greatest bandolim virtuosos. His outstanding virtuosity and unique technique enthralled the critics to call him the »king« of mandolin or »Jimi Hendrix of Brazilian music«. Ivan Lins, Hermeto Pascoal, Maria Bethânia and João Bosco named him »one of the best musicians in the world«.

Bossa Negra are completely Brazilian, relaxed and passionate at the same time, with jazz, samba, lundu, and choro influences, and a breeze of pop. They are probably the best thing that came from Brazil in the past ten years, and their album is considered to be one of the best samba albums of all times! The rapture of carnivals and football matches, sun and wonderful sandy beaches, mountains and afternoon cocktails, children and the wild nightlife of Rio de Janeiro – all this is reflected in their music!
